FY27 CPF Selections

Rep. Emily Randall has submitted the following funding requests for important community projects in Washington’s 6th Congressional District to the House Appropriations Committee.

Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative may request funding for up to 20 projects in their community for fiscal year 2027. Submission to the Committee is not a guarantee of funding. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state, local, and Tribal governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding. In compliance with House Rules and Committee requirements, Rep. Emily Randall has certified that she and her immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects she has requested.

Projects will be posted on this site on a rolling basis in accordance with the public disclosure deadlines established by the House Appropriations Committee.

University of Puget Sound – South Sound Confocal Imaging Resource

  • Project Description: The funding would be used to purchase hardware, software, and support required for a state-of-the-art spinning disk confocal microscope to replace an aging, unreliable system and expand imaging capabilities to include advanced live-cell imaging. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the equipment will enable research aligned with NIST’s goal to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness through advanced measurement science. The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is for activities consistent with, and supportive of, the purposes authorized by section 272 of title 15, United States Code. Mason County Emergency Communications (MACECOM) – Mason County Law Enforcement Communications Equipment

  • Project Description: The funding would be used to upgrade Mason County’s law enforcement communications system that all the law enforcement agencies in the county rely on. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the current system limits law enforcement operations across jurisdictional boundaries and presents ongoing risks to officer safety and situational awareness. The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by section 1701(b)(8) of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. § 10381(b)(8)). City of Hoquiam – Beacon Hill Water Reservoir

The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the current reservoir was found to have structural deficiencies that pose an extremely high safety risk if a breach were to occur, including potential loss of life. This project has a federal nexus because it is for the purposes authorized in Section 306 of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act, 7 U.S. Code section 1926(a)(2). City of Montesano – Montesano Fire Station Modernization and Public Safety Expansion

Makah Indian Tribe – Makah Senior Center Renovation and Improvement Project

Port of Allyn – Sweetwater Creek Waterwheel Park Facilities Improvements

Port of Port Townsend - JCIA Rural Light Industrial Park

Port of Bremerton – Port of Bremerton for Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Improvement Project

  • Project Description: The funding would be used for the rehabilitation of the Port of Bremerton’s sewer infrastructure. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the Port’s sewer system currently supports 39 total businesses and 2,300 jobs at both the industrial park and airport and refurbishment of the sewer system would ensure that the Port is able to continue to provide uninterrupted services to the public. The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by the Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. 1383(c) (Section 603(c) of the Clean Water Act). Quinault Indian Nation – Quinault Indian Nation for Queets Wastewater Treatment Plant

  • Project Description: The funding would be used for a multi-celled treatment system for the Queets wastewater treatment plant. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the existing wastewater treatment plant, situated within the floodplain and the tsunami inundation zone, has surpassed its expected lifespan and needs to be replaced and relocated. The project has a federal nexus because the funding provided is for purposes authorized by the Clean Water Act, 33 U.S.C. 1383(c) (Section 603(c) of the Clean Water Act). Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority (“Sound Transit”) – High-Capacity Battery Electric Buses to Replace ST Express Buses

  • Project Description: The funding would be used to procure 2 high-capacity battery electric buses to replace 40’ diesel buses that will serve routes in Washington’s 6th Congressional District. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it reduces traffic congestion by improving regional public transit options, improves air quality, and supports job creation and retention by expanding access to employment centers within and between the two counties with the highest populations and concentrations of jobs in the state. City of Tacoma – Fishing Wars Memorial/Regional Freight Mobility Bridge Replacement - Phase II

  • Project Description: The funding would be used to move and reconstruct a critical Tribal facility—the Natural Resources Special Purpose Building — from an area repeatedly impacted by flooding, and within Federal Emergency Management Agency designated flood and tsunami hazards zones to ensure that Tribal Citizens and the broader community can reliably and safely harvest, sell, and consume shellfish, salmon, and other natural resources. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it would safeguard public health, ensure continuity of essential monitoring, and avoid future emergency federal spending associated with disaster damage. Kitsap County Public Transportation Benefit Area Authority dba Kitsap Transit – Port Orchard Intermodal Passenger-Only Ferry Terminal Project
